If you are already using the Semaglutide therapy and are at 1.0mg/week (weeks 9-12), you could stay at that level, and the large vial would last approximately 12.5 weeks.
**The vial of Semaglutide allows flexible dosing. For example: if you have been on that dose for 2 weeks, and you are still hungry and not having any adverse side effects, you may increase to the next dosage level. If you are NOT very hungry, you are losing weight, and not having any adverse side effects, you can remain at that dose until you have reached your desired weight loss goal.
You don’t have to reach the maximum dose to attain your goals!
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1. GLP-1, as it’s otherwise called, is a peptide that is released when you eat and the body begins to break down food.
The purpose of GLP-1 is to travel to the pancreas, heart, and brain to determine if insulin production is required, and if it is, it triggers the pancreas to start producing insulin. The effect is that your body naturally lowers its blood sugar levels when you consume foods or drinks that cause blood sugar spikes.
However, in Type 2 diabetics, GLP-1 is not produced as it should, and even in many non-diabetics, the peptide declines, and there are negative consequences. Without GLP-1 production, or the use of semaglutide to supplements it, a number of negative side effects can occur.
In most people, uncontrollable weight gain is common. With higher blood sugar levels and the peptide not helping the body to breakdown certain foods, weight can spiral out of control, and then a whole host of other problems begin to arise such as heart issues, pulmonary issues, and various other health concerns that stem from obesity or being overweight.
However, in diabetics, the consequences can be far worse. The spike in blood sugar levels can trigger diabetes and result in everything from seizures to eventual death if emergency medical intervention isn’t provided immediately.
Unfortunately, a lack of GLP-1 is often associated with diabetes and weight gain. Semaglutide can help!
What is Semaglutide Therapy?
As we said earlier, semaglutide is simply synthetic GLP-1. So, semaglutide peptide therapy is simply designed to replace the missing GLP-1 in your body and offset the negative impact of the peptide deficiency.
Semaglutide is a once weekly injection administered subcutaneously in the fatty tissue in the abdomen.
Exactly how much semaglutide is required for any given patient largely depends on the degree of their GLP-1 deficiency and insulin resistance. As such, it’s not possible for you to simply order a product on your own or otherwise get one. You have to have an appropriate amount for your specific case prescribed, and a medical professional will make sure to gauge your current physical status and the exact amount of semaglutide required to balance your blood sugar and optimize your insulin levels.
Semaglutide peptide therapy is typically used in patients who exhibit high blood sugar, and it can be used in a variety of weight loss programs if it is used appropriately.
